Choosing the Right Squeegee Blades for Your Floor Scrubber

Natural Rubber Squeegee Blades

  • Natural rubber or gum rubber squeegee blades are soft and flexible, providing excellent performance on smooth floors. These blades are lower cost and widely used for general-purpose cleaning.
  • The flexibility of natural gum rubber allows these blades to conform to floor surfaces.
  •  Natural / Gum rubber blades exhibit higher wear than other types of squeegee blades due to their softness,

Linatex Squeegee Blades

  • Linatex blades offer an ideal combination performance and durability. Linatex is both flexible and durable, ensuring longer-lasting performance than gum blades.
  • Linatex blades are versatile and perform well on most floor surfaces with good abrasion resistance, making Linatex blades a good choice for rougher surfaces.
  • Linatex blades offer better chemical resistance than gum blades but will eventually be damaged by petroleum.

Urethane Squeegee Blades

  • Urethane squeegee blades offer excellent chemical resistance, making them ideal for use in a wide range of cleaning environments.
  • Urethane squeegee blades are ideal for petroleum and oily environments such as kitchens, automotive repair shops, and garages.
  • Urethane squeegee blades are more expensive than gum or Linatex blades but exhibit excellent wear resistance and can be used on any floor surface.

Reliable Industrial Equipment Repair

Floor Scrubber Disc Brush Selection

Nylon:

Nylon is the most durable synthetic bristle material with excellent abrasion resistance and bristle bend recovery resulting in a longer lasting brush.

Nylon provides very good chemical resistance and is an excellent bristle choice for general scrubbing.

Polypropylene:

Polypropylene is a synthetic bristle material with more durability than natural fibers and a little more economical than Nylon.

Polypropylene is highly resistant to chemicals, fungus, and bacteria. Ideal for general scrubbing, wet scrubbing, as well as stripping and re-coating.

Steel Wire:

Steel Wire bristles provide extremely aggressive stripping for rough concrete at an economical cost.

Union:

Union is an economical blend which is used in general floor buffing or polishing operations.

Bristle Stiffness:

Synthetic bristles offer the advantage of various sizes producing different stiffness levels.

For instance, a .018 Nylon is very thin, only 18 thousandths thick, and therefore not very stiff, .070 Nylon is very large in diameter at 70 thousandths, and therefore very stiff.

Larger numbers in front of the fiber type, mean stiffer, more aggressive the bristles.

Grit Size:

Silicon carbide grit is bonded to synthetic fibers to provide varying levels of scrubbing, aggressiveness.

A 46 grit is a large size grit and very aggressive.

500 grit size is very small and much less aggressive, similar to sandpaper types.

The smaller the number for grit, the more aggressive the brush bristles will be.
